WHAT IS MEANT BY

EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING?

NU Psychology and Executive Function Skills

Executive Functioning skills are the mental processes that allow individuals to plan and organize, control impulses, regulate emotions, remember instructions, multi-task, organize, filter distractions, and prioritize tasks.

Executive Function Challenges

Executive Function challenges are often present in individuals with ADHD, Depression, Anxiety  and ASD. Additionally, individuals who do not meet diagnostic criteria for a ADHD or ASD but have some areas of challenge related to such, often report having issues with executive functioning. Individuals may experience challenges in one or several areas of challenge.

NU Psychology helps individuals develop skills to set goals, plan and organize in incremental steps, develop tools for self-monitoring, and task initiation and completion . When Executive Challenges are present, it can be incredibly difficult to start a task, especially if it is not motivating. Multitasking can also be especially taxing for an individual with Executive Functioning challenges.

NU Psychology offers supportive therapy for Executive Function challenges.
