Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s normal to have questions. At NU Psychology, we believe in being transparent and approachable so you know what to expect before you even walk through the door.

At NU Psychology, we use a strength-based, evidence-informed model tailored to each client. Depending on your needs, therapy may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, EMDR Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, or Exposure Therapy.
In your first session, your psychologist will get to know you, explore what brought you in, and begin setting goals together. Over time, therapy evolves as you learn new tools, process experiences, and create lasting change. Learn more about our therapeutic approaches

The first session involves gathering information, creating a relationship, and establishing how we can best work together to create healthy changes. Therapy is a dynamic process and evolves with ongoing sessions. Clients can expect to learn more about themselves, process experiences, and learn how to move through challenges to meet their goals.

Sessions with a Registered or Provisionally Registered Psychologist are $235 per hour, following the fee schedule recommended by the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta.
Therapy is an investment in your mental health, relationships, and overall well-being. Many clients receive reimbursement through their extended health benefits.

We accept all major credit cards and require a card on file to confirm your booking. If you’d prefer to pay via e-transfer or cash, please contact us via email to make arrangements. office@nupsychology.com

We do not currently offer direct billing. Instead, clients pay upfront through our secure booking system. You’ll receive an official receipt immediately after each session, which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Whether Registered or Provisional Psychologists are covered (all of our Psychologists are registered or provisionally registered under the College of Alberta Psychologists).
Session or yearly maximums
Psychology fees are also considered a medical expense for tax purposes when not covered by insurance.

We require 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice are billed at the full fee.

Yes! We offer secure online therapy across Alberta, as well as in-person sessions at our Calgary office in Killarney.
Online therapy is convenient and effective, especially for clients balancing work, school, or family schedules. You can connect with your psychologist via video or phone — whichever feels most comfortable.

NU Psychology is located at 2005-37th St. SW, Unit #4, Calgary, AB, in the Killarney neighbourhood.
Free street parking is available on 19th Avenue and behind the building on 38th Street. Please note the two fire hydrants on 19th Avenue if you park there.

NU Psychology specializes in teens, adults, parents, and couples. For children under 12, our sister clinic, Creative Sky Psychology, offers play therapy, art therapy, and child counselling in Calgary.

Most clients are matched with a psychologist within a week. We also offer evening and weekend appointments to make scheduling easier.
