Registered Provisional Psychologist
Leighton Dahl
Leighton Dahl is a Calgary psychologist who provides therapy for teens and adults navigating ADHD, anxiety, OCD, burnout, emotional regulation, and major life transitions, as well as comprehensive psychological assessments for adults.
Leighton brings a warm, steady, and genuinely supportive presence to therapy. She believes lasting change happens when people feel truly understood rather than judged, so she creates a space where clients can explore what's weighing on them and leave with practical tools they can actually use.
Much of her work centres on teens and adults navigating generalized and social anxiety, panic, obsessive-compulsive concerns, low mood, and burnout. She also supports clients working through attachment and relationship difficulties, self-esteem struggles, body image and social media pressures, emotional dysregulation, and self-harm.
Her approach blends evidence-based strategies with a compassionate, person-centred style that helps clients build resilience, strengthen self-awareness, and move toward the life they want. Leighton meets each person where they are and works alongside them, at their own pace.
Adult Psychological Assessments
Leighton also provides comprehensive psychological assessments for adults seeking diagnostic clarity, including adult ADHD, executive functioning, mood and anxiety concerns, and diagnostic clarification. Her assessments can evaluate psychological and intellectual functioning, academic achievement, learning differences, and social-emotional development.
Her assessment practice places strong emphasis on careful differential diagnosis: thoughtfully exploring and distinguishing between possible explanations for a person's symptoms, rather than drawing quick conclusions. She takes a compassionate, trauma-informed approach that considers how cognitive, emotional, developmental, and life experiences shape current functioning.
Leighton's reports go beyond standardized templates, translating complex findings into clear explanations and practical recommendations. They are written to support workplace and academic accommodations, as well as applications for funding, scholarships, and other supports. Above all, her goal is for clients to finish the process feeling understood, validated, and equipped with an actionable plan.
Leighton also works with children, teens, and families through NU Psychology's sister clinic, Creative Sky Psychology, where she supports younger clients navigating anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation, and family-related concerns.
