Registered Psychologist
Braxtyn Horbay
Understanding your brain has the power to change the way you understand yourself and navigate the world around you.
Braxtyn Horbay is a Registered Psychologist who specializes in comprehensive psychological assessment for adolescents and adults. She has completed specialized postgraduate clinical training in the assessment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across the lifespan and regularly conducts comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessments using gold-standard assessment measures and current evidence-based practices. Braxtyn also provides assessment for learning disorders, giftedness, intellectual functioning, executive functioning, and diagnostic clarification for a range of mental health concerns.
Many of the individuals Braxtyn works with have spent years sensing that they experience the world differently, often without understanding why. They may have wondered whether neurodiversity could explain their experiences, noticed differences in attention, learning, executive functioning, sensory processing, or social communication, or simply felt that they have been navigating a world that wasn't designed with their brain in mind. Others may be seeking clarity around longstanding concerns related to mood, anxiety, or cognitive functioning. A comprehensive psychological assessment can provide the insight needed to better understand these experiences and move forward with greater confidence.
Braxtyn believes that the best assessments don't simply provide a diagnosis, they provide a framework for understanding yourself. Every brain has a unique pattern of strengths, differences, and ways of processing the world. Her approach extends beyond determining whether diagnostic criteria are met. She works collaboratively with each client to understand how their brain processes information, identify cognitive strengths alongside areas of challenge, and explore the experiences that have shaped their development. Whether an assessment confirms a diagnosis, rules one out, or uncovers a more nuanced picture, her goal is for every client to leave with a deeper understanding of themselves, moving away from self-doubt and toward greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and confidence.
Each assessment is comprehensive, individualized, and tailored to the client's unique referral questions and goals. Assessment findings are thoughtfully integrated across clinical interviews, behavioural observations, standardized assessment measures, and collateral information to develop a holistic understanding of the individual. Following the assessment, clients receive a detailed feedback session, practical and individualized recommendations, and a comprehensive written report designed to support treatment planning, educational or workplace accommodations, access to services, and, most importantly, a greater understanding of how they think, learn, relate, and experience the world.
